MILES NICHOLAS. COMPOSER
A musical chameleon & theme devotee, Miles is as adept at producing big orchestral scores as he is at creating delicate electronic pieces. From adventurous pop tunes for children’s animation to 1930’s big band arrangements he always writes with a strong emphasis on melody, power, beauty and the sheer joy of music making.
Miles’ work on the groundbreaking animated film, The Missing Key had him creating over 80 mini-works as mimicked 78 RPM records and wax cylinder recordings. The music from these was the spoken language of the characters and alongside the accompanying orchestral score, Miles won both Best Music for a Short Film and Best Song Composed for the Screen. The song was ‘Dream On’ and was performed by renowned Australian singer/songwriter, Sarah Blasko. He also won an award for his sound design & editing on this film.
Miles co-wrote the award winning score for Australian film, The Ground Beneath and has spent the last few years collaborating with some of the best digital creatives in the world. His deeply evocative scores & soundscapes feature on Ample Projects & Public Art Australia's innovative digital installations seen by millions of people at the annual Vivid Festival in Sydney.
Miles lives and works in London.
“Miles Nicholas has an amazing ability to compose, perform and engineer excellent music to suit any era and style. His efficiency, sensitivity and skill are a major asset to anybody seeking a talented screen music professional. No wonder he keeps winning awards.”
